Leather Chairs
A leather chair is one of the few pieces of furniture that genuinely improves with the years, softening and taking on a patina that new upholstery can't imitate. At Loom Loft, our leather chairs include classic wing chairs, contemporary armchairs, swivel designs and powered recliners, with several ranges made in Italy. Rich tans, chocolates, greys and blacks run through the collection, in a choice of leather grades to suit the room and the budget.
Understanding the leather grades
Leather is offered in grades, and the differences are worth knowing before you compare prices. Higher grades are typically thicker, more consistent in colour and more supple to sit on, and they tend to develop that sought-after patina more gracefully. Italian leathers appear across several ranges here, including the Kurtis, Gadoni, Odessa and Etta collections.
Our leather sofa guide sets out the grades properly and applies equally to chairs. As a general point, leather is a practical choice for a busy room: it wipes clean easily and it doesn't hold onto everyday dust and hair the way a pile fabric can.
Classic shapes and powered comfort
Leather suits traditional shapes especially well, and the deep-buttoned wing chairs in the Buckley collection show why, with scrolled arms and stud detailing that leather brings out beautifully. For a more contemporary look, the collection includes cleaner-lined armchairs on slim legs.
At the more technical end, the Volterra collection offers riser reclining with power upgrade options in a compact, ergonomic shape, which is a useful combination in a smaller room. For all the reclining designs together, recliners is the place to browse, and wing chairs collects the classic silhouettes.
Living with leather
Leather rewards a little care and very little effort. Keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from a radiator helps it stay supple, and an occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth is most of the maintenance done. A protection plan is available if you'd like extra reassurance in a busy household.
Most leather chair ranges have a matching leather sofa, and a leather footstool completes the pairing. Sofas by collection shows the full ranges, and if you're comparing covers, fabric chairs and velvet chairs sit alongside.
